Associate Pastor Call Committee: Call Committee Update: Interviews Under Way
As reported during the Congregation Meeting, the Call Committee had a busy week conducting its first interviews with candidates for Faith’s open Associate Pastor position, with more to come. Three candidates for the Associate Pastor position were interviewed last Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday evenings (Jan. 29-31). The final two of five candidates provided by the Synod will be interviewed on Feb. 7 and 9 via Zoom.
It would be highly inappropriate for the committee to reveal any details about the candidates at this point, but it is acceptable to share here what was shared during the Congregation Meeting. Our candidate pool thus far consists of two women and three men; two of the candidates are from the Chicago area and three are from out of state. All of the out-of-state candidates’ initial interviews will be conducted via Zoom, and the local pastors will be interviewed in person. All second interviews will be in person.
My apologies if the above feels like a bit of a tease. Suffice it to say that the first three interviews went very well, with the committee members working together as a team to ask the agreed-upon questions and any necessary follow-ups while making the candidates feel comfortable in the process. We look forward to the next two interviews and determining which candidates to ask back for round two.
As always, thank you for your interest and support!
Sincerely, Chris Bettin Call Committee Chair cjbettin@gmail.com
Meet Your Call Committee At the July Church Council meeting, the members of the Call Committee were approved. I am honored, excited, and a tad wistful to have been chosen as the one to chair this wonderful group of members from our congregation—wistful in the sense that, having served on Pr. Joe’s Intern Committee many years ago, I am now part of the committee seeking his replacement!
Members of our Faith family who have agreed to join me in this endeavor are Bob Hawkinson, Paula Ortmann, Dave Jenz, Kristin Schwallie, Kathy Dibadj (alternate member), and Jack Bair (student member). As a group, we are motivated by the challenge before us—to fill the awfully big shoes of Pr. Joe—and determined to get the job done effectively, efficiently, and expediently. We know finding the right fit for Faith’s associate pastor is of the utmost importance to you, the members of Faith, and also to the Council, Pr. Shelly, and the staff, so we—the committee—are counting on your input, interest, and involvement to lift us up during this undertaking.
